Artist Hemant dhane is one of the promising & dynamic as well as prolific young painter & writer in the field of visual art. I met him at Jahangir art gallery to visit his second solo show in 2017. In the first glance, I fell in love with His evocative abstract Paintings. I wanted to purchase one of my favorite paintings among the show, but unfortunately, it was already booked by Mrs. Sunaina Kejrival (Director of Bajaj art gallery}. Then I bought his other painting, which I loved so much. I got to know him better after the exhibition of Jahangir. After the show, one of my architect clients also selected his one painting for his project in Dubai. Hemant is a recipient of major national level awards like Camlin gold medal & state art award in professional category. Apart from that, in 2023 he was felicitated as ‘Artist of the year ‘with cash price & memento, by kalamaharshi baburao painter art foundation {Kolhapur}. After completing fine art from prestigious art college Sir j.j school of art in 2005, He has been working as a full-time committed painter. He is a very curious artist and a very keen seeker of art & always eager to update his knowledge regarding happenings in the contemporary art world. He has invited to a few national art camps, where he was very fortunate to have dialogue with some of India’s senior eminent artists such as Jatin das, lalitha lazmi, jai zarotia & prabhakar kolte etc. In 2019, it was his honor to invite his paintings to display with India’s leading great masters such as F.n souza, kolte, Raza, Gade, Ram Kumar at sudarshan art gallery [pune]

In 2010, at his hardest time of struggle. His all canvas works, from his first group show at Jahangir, were bought by a private art gallery. In 2009, he worked as a faculty of head in an art workshop for under privilege children’s from BMC School. This workshop was designed under the guidance of veteran artist Akbar padamsee. Seeing hemants outstanding performance at workshop. Priyashri art gallery had offered him a solo show. Since then, he has been giving his contribution as an artist for some charity art workshops & art camps for the sake of society. He has also participated in many national and international group shows. As well as his paintings are displayed in some major private and public art galleries in India like — Gallery 7, art & soul, cymroza art gallery,  Artist center art gallery, ICAC international art gallery , Mona Lisa art gallery, Jahangir art gallery & Nehru center art gallery etc…

 Hemants abstract paintings are really visual treat and the viewer can absorb silence through his abstract paintings. He handles the colors very maturely. He has a strong command of his technique & colors. Not only that, but he has mastery of his drawing too. In my opinion what is Hemant’s greatest strength is, his ability to take the risk. He experiments with anything he likes. He has done experiments with colors, forms, different materials, various surfaces and much more. And this risk-taking capacity is lacking in today’s many young painters, which is the bitter truth. Hemant has built the courage to erase the best he has done on canvas. This is how his mentality is highly creative. He says, once your work becomes popular, one of the biggest risks for any artist is to repeat the same work and become stuck in their cage. So to avoid this, I constantly try to break my own barriers and find more possibilities; otherwise it will destroy creativity. And this is the reason that I scare to stick to one style. Even if you seat for lunch or dinner, you expect different items every day. Then why do you feed to canvas same things for years?  In my opinion, every canvas has his hunger and the artist should understand it and feed to the canvas accordingly.

 One thoughtful quote which comes from his fertile head really inspires me that Creation always leads through destruction. He made me understand by giving a small example of that, if you want to build a house, then first you have to crush the stones.

 Abstract artist Prabhakar Kolte sir calls Him a Thinker, and you can agree with sir once you have a conversation with hemant. He is not only a versatile artist but an expressive writer too. He writes poetry & I have read a few poems by him and I really admired him for that.  Like his evocative & sensitive abstract paintings, his other art works like creative portraits and creative landscapes are not less than any masterpieces. It really pieces for personal collection & pride. When I asked him why he didn’t exhibit them yet? He says I want to show them to the right platform and through the right people. Because diamonds have no value if you put them in kids’ hand have faith in hemant  that he has huge potential in his work & his honest devotion to art will take him to far ahead believe that in post time he will shine as a prominent contemporary painter for sure….great wishes to him always!
